We all love pasta dish, especially when is really good one. If you have experienced ‘the most delicious pasta’ dish in Italy, at some point in your life, you know what I am talking about. But, I believe we don’t have to travel to Italy, to create really tasty home made pasta dish that everyone will talk about it. More you experiment, more you become comfortable in the kitchen, learning what you really like – taste wise, allow more healthy flavours and, even start enjoying cooking.
I know, I know, sometimes a dish can take much longer than we want to invest in. Well, why don’t you divide week and weekend meals. Find week meals which they don’t take too long and, the family still getting fed with healthy choice and, have a fun, experiment, even ask family or friends to help you in the kitchen over the weekend. After all, cooking brings people together and, it is a way for people to stay connected. I still remember those moments when I lived in Sicily for a while. It was truly unforgettable experience. And, seeing italian mamma in the kitchen – it was an art work. But, also it was LOVE. I saw love in every meal which was created. It is contagious. And, we all helped out in the kitchen. And, I believe I bring love to all my dishes. It also enhances your relationship with a food. You have to have a good relationship with food if you want to be healthy.
So, let me share todays delicious green pasta dish which is light and also gluten-free.
Green Detox Spinach Pesto Pasta with fresh Sage
Length of making dough and cooking pasta and serving it, it was about 15mins max. ( if you have a helper. ) Your dough might take up to 10mins. but the rest of the stuff is super quick. You can pre-make green sauce before to save a time. I have posted a short video on instagram how I made a spinach pesto sauce and, you can see regular post on my instagram about nutrition, food recipes, yoga and health in general. Come and follow me on my instagram page here.
Ingredients for Pesto Sauce:
- Handful Broccoli
- 2 Handful of fresh Spinach
- 1/2 Cucumber
- 1 thumb of fresh Ginger
- 2 fresh Garlics
- Coconut oil
- 4 cherry tomatoes
- 2 tsp of Chlorella powder – algae packed with a full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants
- A dash of filtered water
- Handful a fresh parsley
- Handful of fresh home grown Sage
- 4 Brazilian nuts
Blend all in the Nutribullet or Vitamix blender. Use a bit of sauce for a dough and the rest for the sauce to heat up with pasta.
Ingredients for Green Spinach Sauce to create pasta called Shoolantze’:
- 100g Lentil flour
- A dash of blended home made – your pesto sauce
- A pinch of Himalayan salt
- A bit of filtered water
It usually take about up to 10mins or less to create a dough. After, you are ready to create shapes for whatever pasta you desire. I went for a traditional slovakian shapes called – Shoolantze’ – looking like green beans. In Slovakia, Sulance or Shoolantze are sometimes eaten as a sweet dish. Maybe I create it next time. I am not into sweet dishes but I will give it a go…
Once your pasta – Shoolantze is cooked, ( home made takes normally 3-4 mins ), on the pan of your choice, put coconut oil, add garlic, cherry tomatoes and fresh sage. Fry it for about 3mins only and, the green sauce.
Stir it all together – your garlic, cherry tomatoes, sage and pasta for a couple of minutes so it is nice and warm. And, so all the flavours coat the pasta. It will not take a long time, possibly about 2-3mins max.
Once all warmed up, serve on your pasta bowl, add some brazil nuts, fresh ground black pepper and the dish is ready to eat. I haven’t put any parmesan cheese ( as I don’t eat parmesan much but if you like the flavour of parmesan – why not grated some… ) I went for brazilian nuts but, you can add some more like walnuts, sesame seeds too.
It is a delicious pasta dish, so simple and equally super healthy. If you have been eating a lots of meat recently, carbohydrates, this dish a perfect to bring the balance into your gut and increase on alkaline environment.
Keep eating those greens!
Enjoy and let me know what you think.
Till next time. With health and fun in the kitchen,
Julia xx
