My Go-To Yogi Breakfast

Have you thought about how morning routine can impact the rest of your day?

Do you start with nothing in your stomach and straight to coffee or, have some cereals or croissant which can spikes your glucose ( sugar ) levels straight right up. Glucose is your body’s main source of energy. So what we eat has tremendous effect on your energy levels and how we feel throughout day.

Would you like to start your day with something more substantial where your breakfast is a full of goodness and slow release of the energy so it can sustain you for longer – – – till your lunch without needed to snacking anything. Here are my couple of options which I love starting my day with.

My Go-To Yogi Breakfast

If you are a yogi, or not, you know that the way you start your day can have a significant impact on your practice. A healthy, nourishing breakfast is essential to fuel your body, mind, and spirit. With an emphasis on clean, wholesome ingredients, these breakfast options will provide the energy you need for your daily practice while avoiding gluten and added sugars.

Below, a couple of examples for you to get inspired.

Gluten-free Oat Porridge

Oat Porridge with nuts and raspberries

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup filtered water ( you can also add a bit of alternative milk – coconut or oat milk )
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Toppings: Fresh fruits, dry goji berries, nuts, seeds, and a drizzle of honey
  • Additionally: blueberries or blackberries

Cooked the oats on the stove for about 5-7mins on medium heat and when it starts thickening, it is ready to serve. Add all your favorite fruits and nuts you have already blended and prepared in your nut jar.

Health Benefits:

Gluten-free rolled oats are an excellent source of fiber and nutrients, including manganese, phosphorus, and magnesium. Combined with protein-rich Coconut yoghurt, greek yogurt or kefir yoghurt will keep you full and focused. Chia seeds provide additional fiber and healthy fats, while the fruit adds natural sweetness and antioxidants.

Chia Seeds Pudding with fresh fruits

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1 cup of greek yoghurt or Kefir yoghurt ( kefir is a wonderful fermented food which helps to bring a good bacteria in to your digestive system )
  • A pinch of Himalayan salt
  • 1/4 cinnamon
  • Toppings: Fresh fruits, nuts, and seeds

You can soak chia seeds overnight in greek yoghurt or kefir yoghurt and leave it in the fridge. When you are ready to eat, on the following day. you can take few spoons from your overnight big bowl into your breakfast bowl, add all of your favorite nuts, seeds and fruits you have available. I sometimes eat chia seeds pudding on its own or, add few spoon on the porridge.

Health Benefits:

Chia seeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and protein. They help to keep you full and support digestion. The almond milk provides additional protein and healthy fats, while the vanilla extract adds a touch of natural sweetness without any added sugar.

These delicious and nutritious breakfast options provide the perfect fuel for a yogi’s practice. With an emphasis on whole, natural ingredients, these recipes are free of gluten and added sugars, making them suitable for a variety of dietary needs. By incorporating these meals into your daily routine, you’ll start your day off on the right foot and set the stage for a mindful and successful yoga practice.
