Doing Less. Rest More. Feel More.

We’re in the heart of summer… how are you feeling?

Have you rested yet — truly rested? Not just taken a break, but allowed yourself to slow down, soften, and just be?

What if the invitation this season isn’t to do more — but to do less?

To shift from output to presence. From planning to pausing. From chasing the moment to feeling the moment.

Doing Less. Rest More. Feel More.

The world tells us summer is for travel, activity, busyness — for squeezing in the most sun, the most plans, the most output. But what if this season could be about spaciousness instead? A deep inhale. A long, slow exhale. A fresh breath of air you didn’t rush through.

Recently, I saw someone I work with — a client — and something had shifted in her. She walked into the room with a calm, luminous presence. Like something had gently lifted. There was a lightness around her. And when she shared that she wasn’t going anywhere this summer — just staying still, being, resting — it all made sense. She had chosen slowness. And in doing so, she had chosen herself.

This is the magic of doing less.

Because doing less isn’t laziness — it’s wisdom. It’s regulation. It’s recovery. When we allow ourselves to slow down — truly slow down — we’re giving our nervous system a chance to re-balance, our body a chance to recalibrate, our heart a chance to catch up.

We often place so much hope and expectation on holidays — believing that rest, restoration, and joy are waiting for us at the end of a flight. But the reality is: travel can be stressful. The journey there is often long. The beds aren’t as comfortable as our own. The kids aren’t always happy. There are logistics to manage, emotions to soothe, and so much pressure to “enjoy every moment.” And when that pressure builds, the relaxation we were hoping for can slip right through our fingers.

Sometimes, the deepest rest doesn’t come from a plane ticket or a packed itinerary.

Sometimes, it comes from:

  • Lying in a long restorative pose at home
  • Listening to calming music in your own familiar space
  • Walking without a destination
  • Eating slowly, without distraction
  • Sitting outside and letting the sun warm your skin

These aren’t luxuries. They’re medicine.

We don’t need to earn our rest through exhaustion. We don’t have to prove our worth through productivity. Just as we love animals, children, and trees simply for existing — we, too, are allowed to just be.

So maybe this summer is about presence. Slowing your meals. Saying ” no “ to what drains you. Saying ” yes “ to what restores you.

Letting yourself feel more — not by doing more, but by doing less.

Let this season be one of quiet restoration. A time to return to yourself.

Because often, it’s in the stillness where we hear the clearest answers.

And it’s in the rest where the real healing begins.

To slowness, doing less and feeling more…

Always,

Julia
