Inspired by Spring 🍃 IKARIAN Longevity Stew 🍲
A few days ago, I made this soup—and, it was absolutely delicious. One of the tastiest I’ve ever made (yes, I say that a lot… ).

This dish was inspired by the traditional Ikarian stew—those incredible, humble ingredients rooted in one of the world’s Blue Zones. @bluezoneskitchen I made it more brothy, turned it into a comforting soup that feels like a warm hug. Hearty beans, seasonal greens, fresh herbs, olive oil, and that slow-simmered depth… 🌿

But here’s the thing:
Cooking, for me, isn’t just about the food on the plate.
It’s about the process. The flavours that deepen and come together slowly…

It’s about nourishment—not just physical, but emotional and spiritual.

It’s also about:
🌿 Presence – The quiet focus of chopping, stirring, tasting.

💫 Creativity – Turning raw ingredients into something vibrant and soulful.

🤲 Tradition & connection – Honouring where the recipe came from, or infusing it with your own story.

🕊️ Healing – How a warm bowl of soup can calm the nervous system and comfort the heart.

🌱 Seasonality – Listening to what nature is offering right now and cooking in tune with it.

🧡 Care – Cooking as an act of love—for yourself and for others.

The quiet moments. The way the kitchen smells when something’s slowly simmering.
The connection to nature, to the seasons, to people and traditions far away.
It’s grounding and meditative. It’s creative and it’s joyful.
Keeps you present, healthy, connected and very much nourished!

Let me share a few things that helped me get back on track.

After catching a virus last weeel, I scaled back to just one coffee a day.
Because too much caffeine? It can spike anxiety, drain your adrenals, messes with sleep, deplete minerals, and raise cortisol—your stress hormone.
Not what your body needs when it’s healing.

So I’ve been keeping things simple—but INTENTIONAL.
 
For recovery, for balance, for my nervous system. ✨

Many things but one of them — less caffeine. 

A hot water with ginger.
One small shift, but so powerful.

It’s anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, supports digestion, and strengthens immunity.

It’s so easy to take our immune system for grant It’s so easy to take our immune system for granted — until something knocks us off our feet.

A recent virus reminded me, again, how important it is to stay connected to our body’s signals. And honestly? I realised I’d been pushing through, ignoring the signs. Ha! Do you relate to this?? 

For me, it wasn’t just physical — it was stress I didn’t even fully recognise. The kind that simmers beneath the surface. And add to that, not enough restful sleep, and suddenly my body didn’t have the strength to fight back the way it should.

👀 IMMUNITY isn’t just about vitamins or avoiding illness. It’s DEEPLY PERSONAL, and it starts with how we live day to day.

For me — my immune system needs:

	•	More quality sleep — Not just going to bed early, but creating a space for real rest: tech off, nervous system calm, body ready to repair.

	•	Acknowledging stress — There’s good stress (yes!), but chronic stress chips away at your health quietly. I’ve had to really look at what I’m carrying without noticing.

	•	Letting myself pause — Not everything has to be productive. Rest is productive when it’s about healing.

🤲 For you, it might look different. Maybe your focus needs to be:

	•	🥦 Nutrition — Are you feeding your body the fuel it actually needs, or just grabbing what’s convenient?
	•	🏃‍♀️ Movement — Exercise isn’t about punishment or performance. It’s about energy flow, circulation, vitality.
	•	🧘‍♀️ Mindfulness — Are you truly present in your day? Or running on autopilot, disconnected from your own needs?
	•	🔍 Recognizing stress patterns — Is your stress short-term, or is it something your body’s been carrying for months or even years?

🌍 As we head into travel season, social events, warmer weather — this is your reminder:
You don’t have to wait for burnout or illness to start paying attention. You can choose to protect your health now.
