🌿 Living the Ikarian Way 🌿 Out in the garde 🌿 Living the Ikarian Way 🌿

Out in the garden with a bowl of Fava — not the bean, but the traditional Ikarian dish made from yellow split peas 🍲 Inspired by the beautiful longevity lifestyle and functional kitchen wisdom of George and Eleni at Karimalis Winery 🇬🇷 @ikarian_way_of_life

There’s something magical about cooking simple, soulful food straight from the earth. Inspired by the slow, intentional rhythm of life in Ikaria — where people live long, laugh often, and eat well — I made a bowl of traditional Fava.

✨ My version includes:
🧅 1 onion
🥕 1 carrot
🌾 Yellow split peas
🌿 Dried chives & oregano
🫒 A generous amount of olive oil during cooking
💫 Topped with red onions, capers, parsley, and another drizzle of olive oil

💛 Why it’s special:

✅ High in plant-based protein
✅ Rich in fiber and iron
✅ Anti-inflammatory herbs for gut and immune health
✅ Heart-healthy fats from extra virgin olive oil
✅ Fresh parsley: rich in vitamin C, K, and antioxidants — supports bone health and immunity
✅ Capers: tiny but mighty — loaded with polyphenols and quercetin, great for circulation and inflammation
✅ Comforting, nourishing, and naturally gluten-free

Made with love, and meant to be shared 🥄
Let’s embrace a little more Ikaria in our everyday — slow-cooked traditional meals (where the nutrients remain — not microwaved), real ingredients, and plenty of sunshine ☀️

Back teaching this morning… and it felt so good Back teaching this morning… and it felt so good to return.
Sacred sounds, gentle movement, and the stillness of Savasana —
A space where nervous systems could soften and recalibrate.

Because so much of how we behave — how we respond to stress, how we relate to others, how we feel in our own bodies — is shaped by the state of our nervous system.

It’s not just mindset or willpower — it’s physiology.
When we start paying attention to the body’s cues and give it the space to settle… balance begins to return.

This is why nervous system awareness is so foundational —
Not just to manage stress, but to transform the way we live, relate, and rest from the inside out.

✨ Deep rest is not a luxury. It’s a rhythm we can remember.
“ Let your body remember. “

Do you yawn? Do you yawn sometimes? Often? Or ma Do you yawn?

Do you yawn sometimes? Often? Or maybe… hardly ever?

👀 “Most people think yawning just means we’re tired — but it’s actually much more than that.”
Yawning can signal that your nervous system is shifting from a state of alertness or stress into a state of regulation and rest. It’s the body’s natural way of saying, ‘I’m safe now.’
It can happen after movement, deep breathing, or when you finally let go — not just when you’re sleepy.”

🧠 “You see, how we feel, how we react, even how we move through the world — it all begins in the nervous system.
When we start listening to it, we don’t just manage stress… we change the way we live.”

🌿 “So next time you yawn, pause. It might just be your body telling you:
‘It’s safe to let go.’”

Hi everyone! I am just back from two deeply nour Hi everyone!

I am just back from two deeply nourishing weeks in Ikaria, and I stayed on a few extra days after the retreat—just to pause, reflect, and really spend time with myself. And honestly, it was incredible.☺️

Sometimes we don’t realize how much we need stillness until we actually allow ourselves to stop chasing the “next thing.” That urge to get back, to do more, to be constantly busy—it fades when you step into a slower rhythm. And that’s exactly what I experienced.

Ikaria is all about slow, simple living: warm sea, wholesome food, genuine community, and faces that carry a quiet kind of contentment. Being there reminded me that we don’t need to pack our days with a never-ending to-do list. Maybe just doing one or two things—with intention—is more than enough.

Like having a real, unhurried conversation with a friend while walking. Or, slow meditative walk through nature on your own. Or, sunrise morning walking on the beach. Or, anything that keep you a present for a short while. Not multitasking. Not checking the time. Just being present.

I wanted to share this because I know so many of us are moving from one task to another without really being in the moment. Life can become about ticking boxes.

But what if we slow down—even just a little—and choose presence over productivity? ( Maybe something to think about as Summer and Holiday times are approaching… )

If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear what small moments you’ve recently reclaimed for yourself. ??

Yes, some things need to get done—but maybe there’s also room to breathe a little more. 😮‍💨

I’ll be sharing more reflections and moments from Ikaria soon. The sun is shining here— well, it was yesterday… hope it is for you too.

Have a beautiful weekend.😊🙏☀️🌸✨
